Accomplishments

2001

  • Successfully lobbied for a $2,000 pay raise for uniformed and non-uniformed staff whose core duties involve direct contact with inmate or juvenile detainees.

2002

  • Secured an $804.00 pay raise for WV Division of Corrections, Regional Jail Authority, and Division of Juvenile Services employees.
  • Successfully removed the 20-year increment pay cap.
  • Created mental health parity rules to require PEIA and other insurers to cover mental health treatment at the same level as physical ailments.

2004

  • Reinstated Juvenile Service employees back under civil service coverage.

2005

  • Worked to institute a $900.00 pay raise for state employees with more than 6 months of service.
  • Passed the “No Contact” bill which prohibits ex-offenders from contacting correctional employees.

2007

  • Successfully fought in getting a multi-year pay increase for $2,004 in 2007, followed by raises in both 2008 and 2009.
  • Successfully placed Regional Jail employees in civil service.

2008

  • Successfully fought for state employees to receive an additional 3% salary increase.

2009

  • Successfully fought for a $1,000 pay raise for then-current state employees.

2011

  • Secured a 2% pay raise for all state employees.
